Crochet Barefoot Sandals

These Goddess Sandals are a type of "barefoot sandal".  These adornments are worn around the foot with a toe loop and ankle straps.  They can be worn with or without shoes and look fantastic with flip flops and flats, but look the greatest with the bare foot!

Safe to be worn at the beach, in the pool, etc.!

Made from 100% cotton, the Goddess Sandals can be washed and dried by hand or in the washing/dryer machine!

Please note that there may be a small amount of shrinkage upon the first time these get wet and dry due to the 100% cotton fibers.

Crafting Community, Anonymous Thank You

Today, my day was made a bit brighter by the crafting community.

I've been seriously down and out, and have been in a slump with my jewelry; chainmaille and crochet.

I stopped by the Deptford, NJ AC Moore this evening to purchase some supplies for the Barefoot Adornments that have become so popular, thanks to my cousin, Staci.

I was in the checkout lane, and had a basket full of random colors of DMC floss; all of which would need to be counted out and rang up separately by the cashier.

A woman came in line behind me with only one item, and I urged her to go ahead of me since I would take awhile.

She was very appreciative, I got a "God Bless"  (smile and nod, smile and nod), many thanks, and then the conversation was started by the cashier as to if I did embroidery, noting the many skeins of DMC floss in my basket sitting on the counter waiting.

"No, I actually crochet barefoot sandals with that."

"WHAT!?!?!?!  Do you have pictures!??!?!"

And so it started.

I felt as if i was soliciting in AC Moore - but I was assured by the cashier this is what they're there for, and part of the business, everyone shares their crafts.

The cashier and the woman I let go in front of me seemed quite intrigued with this idea.

So, cards were handed out, thanks were given and had, and I am continuing this evening with a smile on my face.

Not for the possible future business, but because of a quick moment of comaraderie between crafters; and random acts of kindness.

Being considerate to fellow human beings (offering the woman behind me to go in front of me) is sorely missing in this world.  There really isn't any altruistic act out there; I'll readily admit it felt great to do that.  But think of what that woman may walk away with.  Maybe she'll pay a tiny simple act of kindness forward.

We could all do with being kinder in this world when the time arises.  It may not seem like much, but letting someone go ahead of you in line, helping someone pick something up they dropped, etc. can go a long way for some.

So while this isn't directly related to new postings of chainmaille and jewelry, from one humble crafter to the gentle readers out there - be kind, and always....STAY CRAFTY!

And...to the cashier at AC Moore and the "Woman in Line Behind Me/Ahead of Me" - if you're out there reading this - thank you!

Three Star Mobius Necklace

Three Star Mobius Necklace/Choker/Collar - $45.00

This piece is made of extremely light weigh bright aluminum rings in a variety off sizes.  Three stars compromise the focal points while mobius rings create the connecting chains.  This piece finished in the back with a simple 2 in 1 weave to finish off with a toggle clasp.  Measures appx. 18" but can be sized for free up to 20".

Pedricktown Day 20120 was, well, uneventful based on sales.  However, I had an immense boost to my muses' self esteem, and that was MUCH needed!  Hundreds of people were commending me on my work, how unique it was, taking pamphlets, order forms, cards, saying they'd be in touch.  Over all, the reaction to my jewelry truly makes me shine inside with pride.
Also a big thank you to my assistants, mom, dad, and John - ya'll were a great help to get set up, kept me in line, and helped breaks us down in no time.

Double Byzantine Necklace

This piece takes my favorite weave, byzantine, and turns it into something a bit more flat/stable on the neck.  This is a perfect piece to be worn tighter, as a collar should be.  This piece does not flip or roll as easily as single strand weaves and has a more "traditional" collar look and feel to it.

This particular piece is made from bright aluminum rings and features anodized aluminum rings in a "champagne" color.  Please note that I am slowly phasing out my colored rings; so color options are limited; please contact me for color availability if you wish to add color to your piece.

There is a toggle clasp as the closure, however, as always you may choose your closure style;  Lobster clasp (spring lever), toggle, or lockable ends ($5.00 extra, comes with a Just in Case clasp as well, and you supply your own lock).  This piece measures 18" in length and can be resized for free up to 20".  Sizing over 20" is $3.00 per inch.

The material used for my weaves is aluminum, giving the look of silver for a fraction of the cost, and boasting easy care and a surprising light weight.  You will be surprised at how delicious this material feels around your neck.

This is a wonderful weave for many people who were inquiring as to the ability to use my pieces as "play" pieces.  Finish this piece off with locking ends and it becomes nearly impossible to wrest this piece off of a neck.

This particular piece features a 1 1/2" wide center steel ring.  Two lengths of boxchain attach to the center ring, with another smaller focal ring to keep the focal point laying in a sweet "V" form.  The rings used are a substantial 16 gauge ring making the lengths of chain just shy of 3/4" in width and a bit shy of 1/2" in thickness.

Hearthstone Wear

I broke away from a bit due to my muse smacking me on the head.

"Home is where the hearth is" she kept saying.

I saw it.

Wearable hearthstones.

These lovelies are made of hardened clay and glass with a secure metal bail to loop your chain or cord around.  (Chain, cord, etc, not included.)

These measure roughly 1/4" think, 1/2" wide and 1" long - give or take as each is hand crafted on it's own.

Your hearthstone shines from within, capture by the stone around it, and it truly does glow and reflect the light.
