Pedricktown Day 20120 was, well, uneventful based on sales.  However, I had an immense boost to my muses' self esteem, and that was MUCH needed!  Hundreds of people were commending me on my work, how unique it was, taking pamphlets, order forms, cards, saying they'd be in touch.  Over all, the reaction to my jewelry truly makes me shine inside with pride.
Also a big thank you to my assistants, mom, dad, and John - ya'll were a great help to get set up, kept me in line, and helped breaks us down in no time.
Looking forward to next years!

Double Byzantine Necklace

Double Byzantine
 $55.00 + shipping/processing and 7% NJ Sales Tax
((limited colors available; slowly phasing out stock of colors; please ask for color availability))

This piece takes my favorite weave, byzantine, and turns it into something a bit more flat/stable on the neck.  This is a perfect piece to be worn tighter, as a collar should be.  This piece does not flip or roll as easily as single strand weaves and has a more "traditional" collar look and feel to it.

This particular piece is made from bright aluminum rings and features anodized aluminum rings in a "champagne" color.  Please note that I am slowly phasing out my colored rings; so color options are limited; please contact me for color availability if you wish to add color to your piece.

There is a toggle clasp as the closure, however, as always you may choose your closure style;  Lobster clasp (spring lever), toggle, or lockable ends ($5.00 extra, comes with a Just in Case clasp as well, and you supply your own lock).  This piece measures 18" in length and can be resized for free up to 20".  Sizing over 20" is $3.00 per inch.

The material used for my weaves is aluminum, giving the look of silver for a fraction of the cost, and boasting easy care and a surprising light weight.  You will be surprised at how delicious this material feels around your neck.

Boxweave Collar

Boxweave Collar
$65.00 + shipping/processing and 7% NJ Sales Tax

This is a wonderful weave for many people who were inquiring as to the ability to use my pieces as "play" pieces.  Finish this piece off with locking ends and it becomes nearly impossible to wrest this piece off of a neck.

This particular piece features a 1 1/2" wide center steel ring.  Two lengths of boxchain attach to the center ring, with another smaller focal ring to keep the focal point laying in a sweet "V" form.  The rings used are a substantial 16 gauge ring making the lengths of chain just shy of 3/4" in width and a bit shy of 1/2" in thickness.

The material used for my weaves is bright aluminum, giving the look of silver for a fraction of the cost, and boasting easy care and a surprising light weight. Though this weave is thicker than some of my other weaves, it is still extremely light weight.  You will be surprised at how delicious this piece feels around your neck.

"Home is where the hearth is" she kept saying.

I saw it.

Fresh off of the pliers!

A very bold, yet fluid design!

This a Eurpean 4 in 1 weave used to create an ankle cuff.

This cuff has three closure points or can be made to have lockable ends.

As always, the aluminum makes it VERY light weight.

The center ring is made of stainle steel and is heavier than the anklet itself!

Truly a delight to wear as it flexes comfortably around your ankle.

It measures roughly 1.5" in height.

This piece will have another ankle bracelet, two wrist bracelets and a choker/collar to match!

Ankle Cuff (up to 11" ) - $35  (Pair $60)

June Special!

Appel Farm Arts and Music Festival Vendor Review

I am now finally able to sit down and write up my review of my experience at the 23rd Annual Appel Farm Arts and Music Festival that took place on June 2nd, 2012 in Elmer, NJ.

This was still one of my first shows, as I start to break into the world of physical vending as opposed to online and commission selling.  This was probably also one of the biggest events I would book, due mainly to the sheer number of people who attended.  I believe they were expecting (and from what we could see, more than likely acquired) 5,000 to 6,000 people attending.

It was a fantastic day due to so many contributing factors; including the weather.  Low/mid 70's, sun, small amount of clouds, and wind.

The weekend kicked off when my assistant, my cousin Staci arrived on Friday.  We relaxed, went out to dinner and attempted to settle our nerves.  I do believe she was more excited than I was nervous.

Saturday morning started with lots of nerves, and little to no sleep.

Up at 5:30 in the morning, and my husband John made breakfast for us.  His famous pancakes and sausage.

Once us ladies were fully primped and ready to head out, we packed up the truck, double checked we had all necessary equipment and paperwork, and off we went.

A quick stop at a Wawa for ice for the cooler and more coffee for the assistant, and there we were, in under a half hour, in Elmer, NJ.

We had a very small (10 minutes tops) wait in line as the vendor vehicles lined up to be checked in.  It was a VERY smooth process and any information the volunteers there could not tell us, they made sure to find out and return to us with the information.  We did have a minor communication mishap between volunteers that were not informed we were told my husband would receive an additional wristband so that he could easily leave after our set up and return to break us down at the end of the day.  It was quickly resolved with absolutely no problems.

Our set up went VERY smoothly.  Tent up, tables up, everything out of the truck, and off my husband went with good wishes to us.

Staci was amazing and helping with product set up and display with wonderful advice and constructive criticism.

We were set up with ample time to sit back, relax, and also take a walk around to introduce ourselves to and meet some of the other crafters - especially the fellow jewelry artists.

What amazing people we met.

Sarah Stringer of  Winding Roads Jewelry was simply a delight to speak with.  She offered some insights into her vending experiences as well as some help in the areas of Reiki after we discussed my troubles briefly.  Her natural gem and stone jewelry is simply beautiful.

I have to admit that Beth of From Junk 2 Funk was probably my absolute favorite fellow jewelry artist.  Her energy was inspiring, and her jewelry, ingenious.  There is not more that I can say about her jewelry without simply telling you to just visit her page and see for yourself.

Last, but not least is Raelinda Woad of Storyteller Jewelry.  My cousin/assistant Staci purchased a gift for me from this amazing artist.  I received the gold/pink peacock Dream Incubator I had my eye on from the first visit to her stand.  Amazing storyteller and gorgeous designs.

There were other purchases made (by Staci...shop-a-holic that she is), as well as many food vendor visits.  A great value was had from the fresh squeezed lemonade stand.  For $15 we received a reusable plastic cup with a lid and straw and received free refills throughout the day.  We made good use of that and got more than our monies worth.  Vietnamese sandwhiches, crab nachos, and of course, funnel cake were our samplings.  Friends of ours that visited enjoyed the "Dog Bowl" (no.....REALLY!!!) of french fries, as well as some fantastic face painting for their son.

Our day continued as the gates opened and the attendees trickled, then steadily flowed in.  There were many times our stand was swamped, complete with lines to check out, rushes to restock, and fielding many questions.

My artistry truly did seem to be appreciated, and many comments were made about the uniqueness of my jewelry style.

We made some fans, and even had some repeat customers!

I provided on site sizing and customizations for customers and that seemed to be an impressive offering, as many customers commented it was rare to find such personal and professional service at a "craft/art" show.

Many of my brochures and cards were taken for future orders.

I got to network with some amazing artists; both flourished and up and coming; as well as share my wares and artistry with some appreciative customers and on lookers.

I demonstrated virtually all day until my hands finally gave out about an hour or so before we were to close up.

At the end of the day our break down went very smoothly, as we did have some extra help from my friends that visited for the day with our complimentary passes.  My husband came rolling back into the vendor area with no troubles.  We packed up, checked out with the volunteers, and off we were to close up our day.  We stopped by the Elmer Diner for some dinner and had an enjoyable time unwinding as much as we could.

A side trip was made on the way home for some sunburn after care; as Staci and I both got a wee bit burned before we decided to put on the sunblock.

Other than some sun and wind burn and tangled hair from the wind, it was a fantastic day.

I hope to  be a repeat vendor/artist at the Appel Farm Arts and Music Festival next year simply due to the wonderful experience we had.  From initial jury consideration, to close up of our stand the day of the festival it was such a positive experience.

Thank you to all of the volunteers and staff of the festival, my customers, the onlookers, the other artists jewelry and otherwise, my husband, my assistant, my un-official assistants, and to everyone who made our day even more spectacular.

Starting To Get Really Excited!

It's almost here!  Two days and counting and I will be one of 50+ featured artists/vendors at the 23rd Annual Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival in Elmer, NJ!!!!

I cannot wait!!!!

My cousin, Staci, will be visiting me to be my assistant for the show.  I'm sure she'll do a great job at keeping me calm yet excited!  I'm so afraid I'll either be bummed or totally lose my head.

I've been working hard the past few days to get some extra product made.  My fingers and hands are sore just typing this!

Do be sure to visit me if you are in the area - you'll be hearing some fantastic music and supporting some very talented artists as well!

I will be posting a few updates to my FaceBook as time and phone battery power allow.

After this show I promise to be more active in posting to wares, this show has simply been occupying my chaining time in getting ready.

Thank you all for being great fans, customers and followers!

Kryptonite - $55

"Kryptonite" - $55

This piece features anodized aluminum rings in segments of byzantine weave which are broken up by green crackle glass beads.

The focal point of this necklace is the centered "V" with a mobius ring dangling from the center.

This piece is adjustable from 16" to 19" and can be sized to fit if desired as well as different closure types.

Other bead options are available - however this particular piece was inspired by my own muse.  I had a general dislike for these particular beads and merely kept them in my stock because I can't just keep what "I" like.  My muse woke me up with the image of this piece and a smack on the head telling me what these beads looked like.

Flower Barrettes

Flower Barrettes are ready!  Shown are all available colors!  $10 per pair.  Extremely light weight!

Dragon "Bracelet" - $85

Callouses on my hands, and a sore back - but it was worth the 16+ hours of work.

This guy is made from 16 and 18 gauge rings with light blue eyes and purple and mirror shine/aqua scales on his back and tail.  He bites his tail with a lobster clasp to cling around your wrist to go everywhere with you.

Won't you please give him a home?

He has many other brothers and sisters waiting to be born from the fantasy land of my mind.  If you can dream them up, they can be made real.

Scales are available in the following colors:  red, orange, gold, champagne (silvery gold), green, blue, aqua, purple, mirror finish aluminum (shiny silver), bronze (black on the underside), black (silver on the underside)

This ten inch anklet is made from the byzantine weave in bright aluminum rings with purple anodized aluminum ring accents.  It closes with a silver plated toggle clasp.

As always, other color combinations are available.

Tackled a Ring

PLEASE NOTE:  I am NOT ready to make these to sell yet.  Once I acquire a ring sizer I will be able to make these for customers.

The picture quality is not up to par, nor are my closures on the band perfect, but this was a simple quick run to see if I even could do this type of work. This was very tiny work.

I used 18 gauge for the romanov ring center and 20 gauge for the ring band.

I MAY consider making these in the future to sell - but I honestly wasn't too happy while making this due to the small rings of the band.  It made my eyes hurt a bit too much.

Full Persian Necklace - $45.00

Oh how I love this weave!  Many friends call this the "snake weave" because of the way it moves.  This weave has great movement but also retains it's strength.

This particular piece features a 1 1/2" wide center steel ring.  Two lengths of full persian weave are attached.  The rings used are a substantial 16 gauge ring making the lengths of chain just shy of 1/2" in thickness.  There is a toggle clasp as the closure, however, as always you may choose your closure style.  Lobster clasp (spring lever), toggle, or lockable ends ($5.00 extra, comes with a Just in Case clasp as well, and you supply your own lock).  This piece measures 16" in length and can be resized for free up to 20".  Sizing over $20 is $3.00 per inch.  As always, the material used for my weaves is bright aluminum, giving the look of silver for a fraction of the cost, and boasting easy care and a surprising light weight. Though this weave is thicker than some of my other weaves, it is still extremely light weight.  You will be surprised at how delicious this piece feels around your neck.

Selling for $45.00 plus shipping/processing and 7% NJ Sales Tax
(please remember your measurements and free sizing up to 20")

A looser look to this piece.

Same piece only with a tighter look around the neck.

New Pliers!

Finally got some new pliers this week thanxs to the hubby.  I'm not ready yet to shell out $100 for a new pair of fancy pliers - that will go on the christmas wish list for next year.  The pliers I had been using, manufactured for my ring supplier and specially made for working with chain mail have been working quite well, but I felt it was time for an upgrade and was hoping to find a more comfortable handle.  One of the biggest issues I have while working is the pressure on my hands from the handles mainly due to the fact that my hands are more "petite".

I check the local craft stores, and nothing I'd want to spend my money on there.

We happened to be visiting a local chain hardware store for some other supplies for my jewelry and checked out their tool section.  I found EXACTLY what I wanted - but - in a set of 20 other tools!!!  They didn't have the particular one I wanted sold separately.  Thankfully, my husband has a need for extra tools, so we ended up getting two packs of these.  The two packs ended up being cheaper than purchasing two "specifically made for jewelry" pliers online.  These are just the same, if even better for my hands.

They are made by Kobalt and are what they call a "mini" plier.  Mini is good, my hands are mini!  I first fell in love with these just LOOKING at the handles.  Thick, textured, so comfortable looking.  They are a nice sized flatnose, obviously with no teeth.

Picked up a can of tool dip as well to coat the business ends to further prevent marring of my rings while working on them.  I did not coat my previous ones as they hadn't been marring my rings - but I wanted to be extra carefully sure on my new ones.

I am SO pleased with these pliers and will be using them until I can convince myself to shell out the $100 for the dream set I've been eyeing up - or until next christmas.

Here they are with one of my original pliers in the middle.  Note the yarn wrapped, electrical tape wrapped handles of the original ones.  I did what I could to get the handles thicker and less "slippy".

Double Helm Chain Choker - $65.00

I will be sad to see this precious go.  I truly fell in love with this one.  I WILL be making one for myself, especially since John was the one who picked out these beads - and they truly are a unique type.

This necklace features segments made from double strips of helm weave.  Between the segments we have rings with granite stone beads dangling.  The stone beads have a matte finish - they are not shiny like most gemstone beads.

This piece truly dazzles with the chain drapes which are all hand linked as well.  I NEVER use premade chains in my work.

This piece measures appx. 18" in length but can be shortened or lengthened (up to 20") for free.  It closes with a toggle clasp.

I am showing a picture of this piece on due to the fact that my necklace bust form is not thick/wide enough to truly show how this piece will lay around a neck.

Captive Black Core Choker - $55

I am extremely excited to have this piece done.

This was an extremely fun piece to make, and a huge joy to try on.

It feels SO amazing around the neck, moves like liquid with your every movement.

The core is a black cotton woven core.

The rings are 18 gauge bright aluminum.

I considered wanting to use a leather core - but upon further thought - I decided on cotton.

Why?

Cotton washes easily - ie: you can wear it in the shower with no worries.  Leather can eventually shrink and crack.  Woven cotton is "loser", whereas a leather core would be quite stiff.

I am not against using the leather core - but until I can happily find a suitable leather core - I will keep up with the cotton core.

This particular piece measures around 19", but can be shortened or lengthened as with all of my pieces.  It is a bit over a quarter inch in thickness and closes with a toggle clasp.  As usual, different clasp options are available, just browse to the "ordering" section to find out more.

Celtic Visions Choker

Just finished this fantastic looking new choker in the Celtic Visions weave.

Absolutely love the lacey look to this.

Made with 16g and 18g rings, 17" in length, but as always can be sized to fit.  Closes with a toggle clasp, but can be made to be lockable.  Remember, all "lockable" pieces come with a free regular clasp that can be attached for those moments where discretion is "key" - pun intended.

Celtic Visions Choker - $65
